The art and culture of China’s Silk Road was brought into the spotlight on New Year’s Eve in New York by Sino-American Friendship Association (SAFA), as Chinese performances took over the 2017 Times Square New Year’s Eve countdown on Dec 31st. 2016. This year was the sixth year that Chinese culture has been represented at the Times Square New Year's Eve ball drop celebration since 1907.

The "2016 Empowering Women and Sustainable Development Summit" was held on October 26, 2016 (Paris time) at UNESCO Headquarter in Paris, France. The "Summit" was hosted by China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF), co-hosted by Sino-American Friendship Association (SAFA), supported by United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization and Information Office of Nanjing Municipal Government. The "Summit" committed to empowering and inspiring women through exchanges and interactions in art and design between excellent women artists and designers all over the world, featuring exhibitions, charity auctions and high-level speeches and panel discussions.
